Structural brain improvements following individually tailored serious exergame-based training in mild neurocognitive disorders: exploratory randomized controlled trial
The study shows that training with the Dividat Senso can have positive effects on the brain and memory of people with mild cognitive impairments, which often occur in connection with Alzheimer's disease. Participants received either Dividat training in addition to their usual treatment or standard care alone. Using advanced brain imaging techniques, researchers were able to demonstrate that Dividat training led to significant changes in important brain regions: the volume of the hippocampus (which is crucial for memory), the thalamus, and the anterior cingulate cortex increased compared with the control group (with medium to large effect sizes). These changes were accompanied by measurable improvements in memory, particularly in the delayed recall of words. Furthermore, the results suggested that Dividat Senso training may slow the loss of neural connections in the brain. Because the hippocampus plays a key role in Alzheimer's disease and its deterioration is closely linked to disease progression, these observations may indicate that the training not only strengthens cognitive performance but could also potentially have a beneficial influence on the course of the disease.
