Personalized Motor-Cognitive Exergame Training in Chronic Stroke Patients – A Feasibility Study

The aim of this study was to investigate the feasibility and effectiveness of a training program with the Senso for chronic stroke patients in a first pilot study. The training program was developed theory-driven and included progressive training personalized for each patient. The training took place twice a week for eight weeks. The duration of each training session was 15-20min at the beginning and was increased during the course (in 3min increments per week) to 30-45min. Ten patients completed the study. The results showed high exercise participation (95%). Further, the study found improvement in balance and gait pattern as well as psychomotor speed. These results motivated to continue working on the developed training program and to conduct another larger study.
